Ashkan Dejagah set to join Championship side on a free transfer

Ashkan Dejagah is set to sign for Nottingham Forest on a free transfer, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Championship to tie up a number of deals before the transfer deadline at 11pm and are hoping to get this one done as soon as possible.

The Iranian winger was spotted at the City Ground last night watching his potential new team in action in their 2-0 defeat to Preston North End. This suggests that a still is more or less done.

The 31 year-old has been without a club since being released by German side Wolfsburg in the summer. He has had a lot of clubs after him but has been waiting for the right one. He was believed to be very keen on a move to England.

The name Ashkan Dejagah will be familiar to some after his spell with Fulham from 2012 to 2014. New Forest boss Aitor Karanka has targeted him as a signing to bolster his attacking options at the City Ground.

Dejagah is a vastly experienced winger who has played at various clubs around Europe. He started at Hertha Berlin before spells at Wolfsburg, Fulham and Qatar side Al-Arabi SC. He re-joined Wolfsburg last season but a move did not work out for him.

He will be an exciting signing for Nottingham Forest. He was a very popular man at Fulham when he played for them in the Premier League. He is a powerful winger who will give Forest another dimension going forward, he is a very shrewd signing by Aitor Karanka.
