Sheffield Wednesday hoping to land Manchester City defender on loan

Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to sign Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo on loan, according to the journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Owls are keen to complete a deal for the centre-back before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday.

The 20 year-old is highly-rated at Manchester City and would be a decent loan signing by Sheffield Wednesday if they can get it done. The new Owls boss Jos Luhukay is confident of getting a couple of deals done over the next 24 hours or so.

The recently appointed manager has signed Dutch midfielder Joel Pelupessy but that is all they have done so far this month so he is hoping that Adarabioyo is the next through the door at Hillsborough.

Adarabioyo was born in Manchester to parents of Nigerian decent. He joined the City academy at the age of just 5. He was tipped as a future star as a youngster when he captained Manchester City’s U18 team when he was just 16.

The 6ft 5inc defender has been a regular for Manchester City’s youth teams and has also represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level. He made his debut for City in February 2016 in an FA Cup tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He has gone onto play 5 more times for them, one in a Champions League game against Steaua București.

Adarabioyo will be allowed to leave Manchester City on loan as Pep Guardioula is keen for him to gain some first-team experience. This would be a good coup by Sheffield Wednesday if they can get it over the line.
