Aston Villa to gatecrash Wolves’ move for Bournemouth striker

Aston Villa are looking to gatecrash Wolves’ move for Bournemouth’s Benik Afobe according to a report from Football Insider.

Earlier today, it was reported that Wolves were close to completing a deal to sign Afobe on loan from Bournemouth. The former England youth international had played for Wolves before and he was a goal machine during that period, proving himself to be a top quality striker after previously only being limited to loan spells while being contracted to Arsenal. That spell did end bitterly after Afobe forced a move to Bournemouth but a return does seem to be on the cards.

But one of Wolves’ biggest rivals are determined to make sure that Afobe doesn’t head back to Molineux. The Villains have lost one of their best strikers this season with Jonathan Kodjia being ruled out for a serious length of time due to injury. This means they need someone else to be a regular goalscorer for them if they want to sustain their bid for promotion. And with Afobe showing how good he is in the Sky Bet Championship before, they are looking to sign him before the end of the transfer window.

Now this is set to be a battle to sign Afobe between the two West Midlands clubs. Both have plenty of resources to make sure this goes through but it will be down to the player himself where he goes. Whether he wants to head back to familiar ground or try somewhere new is not known right now.
