Middlesbrough to make late move for Everton midfielder

According to TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough are hoping to persuade Everton to allow holding midfielder Muhamed Besic to join the Teessiders on loan until the end of the season.

Besic has only played 46 minutes of football with the senior side this season, and has been in the match day squad just five times out of a possible 24 in the Premier League. He has yet to start a game so far this campaign for the Toffees.

However, he has featured more prominently in the UEFA Europa League, playing in three games in the competition’s group stages.

The midfielder joined the Merseyside outfit from Ferencvaros back in the summer of 2014, but has struggled with first team opportunities since his arrival.

Pulis has regularly mentioned that he is not looking to sign players on permanent deals due to the overtly large squad size. But he hasn’t ruled out a loan move or two before the February 1st deadline.

Central midfield is certainly an area which Middlesbrough are looking to strengthen. Transfer rumours have been circulating regarding Adam Clayton and Grant Leadbitter, and a possible reunion with Aitor Karanka at Nottingham Forest.

With Adam Forshaw joining Leeds United earlier in the window, Boro currently have four central midfielders at their disposal, with Jonny Howson and Adlene Guedioura, as well as Clayton and Leadbitter. Pulis will be hoping to strengthen and provide competition in this position from now until the end of the season.

Besic is strong in the tackle and a neat player on the ball, he is able to find a pass, and is versatile in a positional sense. He even played at centre back in Everton’s Europa League clash with Apollon Limasol.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce could allow Besic to leave in order to get some well-needed game time, and the Championship could be a great place for the Bosnian international to revive his career.
