AFC Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe in talks over loan move to Championship side

AFC Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe is in advanced talks with Wolves over a loan move, according to Football Insider.

The Championship leaders are apparently on the verge of completing this huge deal to bring the 24 year-old striker back to Molineux for the rest of the season, a and with an option to buy in the summer.

Afobe spent the 2015/16 season playing for Wolves and was a hit with the Midlands club. He scored 22 goals in his only season at Molineux but was sold to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 for £10 million.

However, he has struggled to make an impact at Bournemouth and has found it tough to nail down a first-team place. He has fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Jermain Defoe and Callum Wilson and will be allowed to leave the Cherries on loan this month to rekindle his career.

There has been other interest from Championship clubs in Afobe but it is his former club Wolves who look set to land him. They are currently top of the league and the signing of Afobe will further increase their chances of a return to the Premier League.

Afobe will no doubt boost an already strong attack at Wolves. He has a decent goal scoring record in his career so far. He started his career at Arsenal before loan stints at Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton and Milwall. It was his loan spell at MK Dons in 2014 that earned him a move to Wolves.

His move to Bournemouth has not worked out but a return to Wolves would be a huge signing for Nuno Espirito Santo.
