Barnsley

PREVIEW: Barnsley v Fulham

Two clubs go into battle in the Sky Bet Championship this afternoon looking for three points for different reasons when relegation-threatened Barnsley face in-form Fulham at Oakwell.

The home side find themselves just two points above the drop zone while an impressive run of five wins from six league matches has seen Fulham climb rapidly up the table.

Barnsley go into the match on the back of three consecutive draws on home soil. The Tykes boss Paul Heckingbottom is sweating over the fitness of winger Lloyd Isgrove who has a dead leg although fellow midfielder Gary Gardner is likely to return to the side after being made to sit out of last weekend’s 3-1 loss at Aston Villa.

Fulham captain Tom Cairney will miss the match with a knee injury although it should be noted that the player is the subject of transfer interest from a trio of English Premier League clubs. Forward Floyd Ayite is struggling with a calf problem and is also unlikely to feature.

On loan Southampton defender Matt Targett could be handed his debut for The Whites at left-back.

The match will see the footballing community come together to remember the life of former Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne who sadly passed away earlier this week following a battle with cancer. Mr Cryne always held the best interests of Barnsley Football Club close to his heart and was one of the good guys of the game.

The match is set to kick-off at 3pm and tickets are available to purchase by fans of both clubs on the day.
