Derby County, Derby County to let experienced striker join Burton Albion

Derby County to let experienced striker join Burton Albion

Derby County striker Darren Bent is set to join Burton Albion, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The 33 year-old forward has been freed up to leave the Rams this month after they signed Cameron Jerome from Norwich City. He has been linked with Burton Albion for the majority of this transfer window and a move finally looks to be completed.

Bent has fallen down the pecking order at Derby this season under Gary Rowett. He has found it tough to get into their team due to the form of Matej Vydra, David Nugent and Sam Winnall. The chance to join Burton Albion is a good opportunity for him.

The Brewers are currently bottom of the Championship but are only a point from safety. It is very tight at the bottom and they will be hoping Darren Bent can score the goals to keep them in the league. He has proven to be a goal scorer in the past and he is a decent coup for Burton.

He has played over 550 games in his career and has made 13 England caps. His experience will be vital for Burton Albion and could be valuable to them if they are to stay up this season.

Bent has played for some big clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Aston Villa in the Premier League and has scored 215 career goals to date. Burton Albion will be his next move and he still has time on his side with him being only 33. This could turn out to be a great piece of business by Burton.
