Bradford City set to sign former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leeds United left-back

Bradford City are set to sign left-back Stephen Warnock on loan from Championship side Burton Albion, according to the Bradford Telegraph.

The 36 year-old defender is expected to join the Bantams on loan deal until the end of the season. Some Bradford fans will remember when he played for them on loan from Liverpool in 2002.

League One side Bradford City have been in need of signing some more defenders ahead of the transfer deadline next week. They have been short of players in defence but will bolster their defensive options by landing Stephen Warnock on loan.

Warnock is a vastly experienced defender and his experience will be vital for the promotion chasing Bantams. He has played over 500 career league appearances and has also had two caps for England.

He joined Burton Albion in June after being released by Wigan Athletic at the end of last season. He has since played 15 games for them this season but is set to leave them on loan already to join Bradford.

Warnock has played for wide range of clubs and has only played in League One once, which was during his loan spell at Wigan Athletic in 2015/16 when he helped them win the title and earned a permanent switch to the Latics.

He started his career with Liverpool and played 67 times for the Premier League giants. He then had spells at Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Derby County, Wigan Athletic and now Burton Albion. A move to Bradford City is set to be next for Warnock, who is still going strong at 36.
