Leeds United rated keeper heads to Sweden on trial

According to a report on their official club website, Swedish outfit Landskrona BoIS have taken Leeds United’s highly rated stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell on a three-day trial.

Rated stopper Peacock-Farrell signed for the Whites in 2013 after coming up through the youth system at Middlesbrough – the Darlington-born keeper being released by the Teessiders. Solid performances caught the eye and the youngster was rewarded with a professional contract by Leeds United in 2015.

In the report, mentioned above, the 21-year-old stopper was spoken of by Lanskrona Sporting Director Peter Swärdh who explained “We have been able to test this 21-year-old goalkeeper for three days and it will be interesting to see him in action.”

Despite being highly rated at Elland Road, and beyond, Peacock-Farrell hasn’t made the breakthrough at Leeds United, only featuring in one game in April 2016 after Marco Silvestri was sent off against Rotherham United in the previous game.

He has had loan experience though, going on trial at Oldham before this season with a view to a season-long loan move, something the Latics turned down the chance of. Instead he made four appearances in a month-long loan move to non-league York City, conceding nine times before returning to Elland Road.

At the moment the young stopper sits behind current first-teamer Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan in the depth charts at Elland Road. However, with Lonergan the subject of interest from Sunderland, maybe Leeds United are looking to explore other keeper options if they are to let Lonergan and Peacock-Farrell leave at the same time.
