Manager confirms Bradford City are set to sign Championship midfielder

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has today revealed to the Burton Mail that Bradford City of Sky Bet League One are interested in signing midfielder Matthew Lund. In addition to this, a second Burton Albion player could also make that move prior to the upcoming transfer deadline.

Stuart McCall, the Bradford manager, is keen on adding some fresh faces to his squad as they look to get their promotion push back on track after some indifferent results. Lund is believed to be free to move from Burton this month in search of more regularly football. Clough then eluded to another of his squad potentially dropping to the Bantams too.

Lund, a Northern Ireland international, made his name in League One with Rochdale, leading to Clough snapping the player up over the summer. He hasn’t played a game for Burton since November, partly down to injury and illness, but mostly due to falling down the pecking order. Clough today confirmed Bradford’s interest in not just Lund, but another of his roster,

“Yes, they (Bradford City) have enquired about him (Lund). That could happen before the weekend. They have also asked about another player as well, so there might be two of them going.”

Lund was the first signing of the summer by Burton Albion, but could be set for the exit door in the coming days. It remains to be seen the identity of the second Burton Albion player set to leave the club in a similar move. Damien McCrory recently returned from a loan spell at Portsmouth, so he could potentially be that person.
