Pudil, Sheffield Wednesday defender reveals FA Cup has special place in his heart

Sheffield Wednesday defender reveals FA Cup has special place in his heart

Sheffield Wednesday’s Daniel Pudil has told the club website that the FA Cup has a special place in his heart.

Even though Pudil was not born in England, he is from the Czech Republic, he was a big fan of football in this country and so always had an eye on the FA Cup. He said he loves this competition and always wants to progress very far into it because a deep cup run is special for everyone involved in the club.

And that’s why he wants everyone to go for it as they host Reading in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup on Friday night. While this is not the most exciting tie on paper as it is the Owls facing a team they are already familiar with as they both play in the Sky Bet Championship, the fact it is a home match makes Pudil believe that this is a great chance to advance further in the cup.

He said: “Everyone knows about the FA Cup,”

“I have been watching the FA Cup for as long as I can remember.”

“It’s a really important cup for us.”

“We have a big chance to go through to the next round with a home game and we want to take it.”

“We have to fully focus on the cup and try to get through.”

“Then you look to the draw and maybe get the chance to play a big game like we did against Arsenal in the League Cup a couple of years ago.”

“These games can give you a lot of confidence and a big lift, we have to take every game as it comes and take them all very seriously.”
