Birmingham City midfielder wanted by Strasbourg and Angers

Birmingham City midfielder Cheikh N’Doye could be set for a return to France in this window, as per a report by Get Football News France.

The central midfielder only joined the Blues on a free transfer but is now being targeted by French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg and his former club Angers.

It is believed that both clubs want to strike a loan deal for the 31 year-old. He joined Birmingham on a free transfer from Angers in the summer but they now want him back. He was their captain last season and he led them to the Coupe De France final where they lost 1-0 to PSG.

N’Doye has been a regular for Birmingham City this season but has not been able to prevent them struggling in the Championship. The Blues are in a relegation scrap at the bottom and are in desperate need of some positive results.

He was signed by Harry Redknapp, who was sacked earlier in the season, and it is yet to be seen whether their new boss Steve Cotterill will allow him to leave the club this month.

N’Doye is a vastly experienced midfielder and would be a shrewd loan signing for either Angers or Strasbourg. The Senegal international started his career with French side SAS Épinal before being snapped up by Créteil-Lusitanos. He was a key player for them in Ligue 2 and was signed by Angers in Ligue 1 in 2015.

A move to England has not worked out for N’Doye as of yet but there is still time. It would be a shame to see him leave after just 6 months.
