Birmingham City looking to sign former Wigan Athletic striker

Birmingham City are considering a move for Trabzonspor’s Hugo Rodallega according to a report form Turkish publication MynetSpor.

The Blues have been linked to plenty of strikers during this transfer window as they look to sign a new striker that could fire them out of the relegation zone. And they aren’t just looking at players who ply their trade on these shores and are also looking for names who play outside of the country. And they are now considering making a move for a striker who is already a familiar name in England.

They have become interested in signing Rodallega who currently plays in Turkey for Trabzonspor. But he is well-known to fans in this country due to his time at both Wigan Athletic and Fulham. He would make over 100 appearances for the Latics during his three years at the DW Stadium, making himself a fan favourite by often topping their top scorer ranks even when played out of position. Rodallega would then move to Fulham in 2012 and would do ok there but his time at Craven Cottage will always be besmirched by the fact they got relegated from the Premier League.

But he could return to England with a move for Birmingham though it will be tricky to pull off. While he is not a regular for Trabzonspor, they do want to keep him around as he is a good quality back-up player. But if Rodallega wants to get back to playing regular first team football, heading to the West Midlands might be an option.
