Norwich confirm signing of Scottish midfielder

Aberdeen’s 26-year-old midfielder Kenny McLean has joined Norwich City on a three-and-a-half year deal that sees him return to Aberdeen on loan for the remainder of the season.

While the fee is not being disclosed by either club, it is believed to be in the region of £200,000.

An attacking midfielder, he underwent a medical at the club on Sunday before returning to Scotland.

Speaking on the clubs official website, McLean, who played in Scotland’s narrow defeat to the Netherlands in November, expressed his optimism in signing for the Norfolk club.

“Norwich has the right feel about it.

“I’ve met people at the club and it just seemed this was the place for me to come. After watching them on the pitch, it seems perfect for the style I want to play.

“The manager’s philosophy suits me and the club is right for me at this time of my career. It’s good to have a pre-season in the summer with the new team and with the manager.

“I’ll need to adapt to the way he wants to play, and that takes time so doing that in pre-season is right for me.”

Daniel Farke, who has also added Tottenham Hotspur’s dexterous midfielder Marcus Edwards on loan until the end of the season, highlighted the attributes of his new signing.

“Kenny is a player who is really flexible.

“He’s full of technical ability with a high passing quality and he’s able to score and assist. He’s a player we really like.”
