Chelsea ace continues to be linked with loan move to Sunderland

Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu is continuing to be linked with a loan move to Sky Bet Championship club Sunderland according to reports by The Sun.

The 17-year-old defensive midfielder has impressed Blues manager Antonio Conte since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Ampadu played a starring role in the Chelsea side as they defeated Norwich City 5-3 on penalties in an FA Cup Third Round replay at The Bridge in midweek while he was an unused substitute as Chelsea won 4-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League on Saturday.

It has recently been reported that Sunderland would like to take the player on loan for the remainder of the season and it is thought that Black Cats boss Chris Coleman remains keen on landing the former Exeter City academy star as he looks to steer his side to Sky Bet Championship safety.

Coleman will have been impressed with the defensive midfielder’s performance for Chelsea Under-23s at The Hetton Centre last weekend as The Blues beat The Black Cats 5-0 in the Premier League 2 with the player getting his name on the scoresheet.

Chelsea boss Conte could look to hold on to Ampadu with the player being in and around the first team at Stamford Bridge. Should Sunderland pull off a loan deal for the defender, Ampadu would join fellow Blues teammate Jake Clarke-Slater at The Stadium of Light.
