Leeds United – 5 things from Christiansen post-match presser

Today’s game at Elland Road between Leeds United and Millwall was nothing short of spectacular; it was a seven-goal rollercoaster of a game.

At the half, Leeds United walked off to the resounding reverb of boos from the Elland Road terraces, and deserved too. Two goals and a man down after Liam Cooper’s sending off, the boos were part of the dissatisfaction that fans rightly felt on all sides of the ground.

The second half was a blitzkreig by Leeds United, three goals in 16 minutes to drag the 10-man Whites back in front and put them on the front foot. They began to batter at a staggering Millwall side, their esprit de corps shining through. Ultimately, it wasn’t to be and two late goals saw Millwall through to their first away win of the season.

It was left to a disappointed Thomas Christiansen to air his views in his post-match presser.

Five things we learned from Thomas Christiansen’s post-match presser

1. Points over style: “In football I prefer to play like shit and take three points.”

2. Leeds United thrive on adversity: “We need to shoot ourselves in the feet to react…Perhaps the tactic for the next game is to start with one less because this is when we play best.”

3. The team deserve credit for dusting themselves off: “A lot of credit to the team. In the second half as we did against Ipswich but again we don’t take anything. We cannot be satisfied, we cannot take anything with us.”

4. Cards aren’t equally doled out: “I think that today, today all the fouls that we made was one yellow card and when they made a foul…nothing happened. I don’t think that we’re judged in the same way.”

5. A slight dig at some critical voices:Everyone says ‘We need a striker’ [knocks on table] Here! You have a striker – two goals. Okay, he could have scored in the first half and then we avoid perhaps the red card…he [Lasogga] made a very good game.”
