Brentford reject Reading’s transfer bid for French defender

Brentford have rejected the transfer offer submitted to them by Sky Bet Championship rivals Reading for centre-back Yoann Barbet according to Get West London.

The 24-year-old Frenchman has made 24 appearances in all competitions for The Bees this season and the player has played a key role for the West London club.

It has recently been reported that league rivals Reading have submitted a transfer offer for Barbet however it has now been confirmed that the bid has been rejected after being deemed well below Brentford’s valuation of the defender.

Barbet started his career in his homeland with Bordeaux. The player graduated from the club’s academy system but only ever featured for The Girondins at B team level. After seven years with the former French champions, the centre-back spent 12 months with Ligue 2 minnows Chamois Niortais before joining current club Brentford for an undisclosed fee in summer 2015.

Since joining The Bees, Barbet has made 68 appearances for the club in all competitions in which he has scored six goals. The player has been in good form of late as Brentford have pushed their way up the Sky Bet Championship table and the West Londoners will be hoping that Barbet can help the club to an unlikely top six finish this term.
