Northampton Town have signed Gboly Aribiyi on loan from Nottingham Forest for the season as confirmed by the club website.
The 22-year-old winger became a notable winger when he started performing well for Chesterfield in 2016, earning himself a move to Nottingham Forest in January 2017 with those performances. However he has been unable to break into their first team and has ended up going out on loan in order to gain more first team experience. He started the season loan with MK Dons but that deal ended early and he returned to Forest this month. And now Aribiyi is back out on loan where he has agreed a deal with Northampton to stay there until the end of the season.
The Cobblers are currently 21st in Sky Bet League One and they are looking for ways to escape the relegation zone. The extra pace and ability on the ball that Aribiyi will bring to the Sixfields Stadium could be exactly what the team needs to rise out of the bottom four.
After the completion of the signing Northampton head coach Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “Gboly is an addition we are excited to make,”
“He is a player who has impressed me whenever I have seen him. He is direct, and offers some really explosive pace and width and he is very good in attacking one against one situations.
“He is the sort of player who can get the supporters out of their seats and he gives us another dimension to our attacking play.”
