Nottingham Forest winger set for loan move to League One side

Nottingham Forest winger Gboly Ariyibi is set to join League One side Northampton Town on loan, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Cobblers have seen off competition for the winger from Shrewsbury Town and Oxford United. A deal is expected to be announced in the next 24 hours.

The 23 year-old has spent the first half of this season on loan at MK Dons and played 28 matches for them in all competitions and scored 7 goals. His loan was terminated in January and he returned to Nottingham Forest.

It was yet to seen whether Ariyibi would be in the plans of the new Forest boss, Aitor Karanka, but the Spaniard is obviously keen for the winger to go back out to gain some more experience.

Ariyibi was born in America to Nigerian parents but moved to England at a young age. He came up through the Southampton academy along with Luke Shaw and James Ward-Prowse. However, he was released by Mauricio Pochettino and joined Leeds United in 2013.

He played 2 games for the Whites before he headed out on loan to Tranmere Rovers in 2014. He was released by Leeds at the end of the 2013/14 season and joined Chesterfield.

He has three impressive season with the Spirerites and he was then snapped up by Forest in January 2017. He has not quite been able to break into their first-team yet but his loan move to MK Dons and another coming now at Northampton Town will certainly give him some more experience and aid his development.
