With all the improvement that Leeds United have shown over the last season-and-a-half, one area remains a worry after the departure of 30-goal striker Chris Wood – the lone striker role.
Whilst there are goals distributed throughout the ‘front line’, fans of the Whites are still not convinced their side has the up-front options to take the club forward. Leading scorer Kemar Roofe, with seven goals, is seen as too inconsistent and German loanee Pierre-Michel Lasogga too lumpen a mass to inspire confidence of Leeds fans.
So fans have been clamouring for a goal-scoring striker and former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan can’t believe that the Elland Road club didn’t consider this one.
I'm a little surprised Leeds have not considered Cameron jerome for a 1.5m price tag but it's good enough for derby sitting in 2nd place , it baffles me when at such a great price a handful on his day and could lead the line so well

Cameron Jerome has just joined promotion challengers Derby County, moving from fellow Championship side Norwich City. It’s the £1.5 million transfer fee that Whelan finds which “baffles” him especially when considering Jerome “could lead the line so well.”
Jerome has turned out 15 times for the Canaries this Sky Bet Championship campaign, scoring one goal and providing two assists for teammates. But if it’s a goal threat that you are after, coupled with experience, then it is hard to argue with former Leeds striker Whelan.
The former Birmingham City and Stoke City frontman has 462 games in England’s top two tiers of football, playing 251 games (75 goals/26 assists) in the Championship and 211 games (32 goals/22 assists) in the Premier League.
That level of experience and goal-scoring for £1.5 million is something of a steal and much, much better than some of the hyper-inflated prices that the Whites were said to interested in and willing to pay.
As Whelan says, whilst Leeds United have not shown any interest in the Huddersfield-born forward, he’s certainly seen as something to be passed up by Derby who sit second in the league behind Wolves.
