Cardiff City are in pole position to land AFC Bournemouth striker

Cardiff City are leading the race to sign AFC Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The 29 year-old forward has been the subject of interest from various Championship clubs such as Aston Villa, Wolves, Bristol City and Middlesbrough in this transfer window. However, it is Cardiff City who are edging the battle for his signature.

Grabban has spent this season on loan at Championship strugglers Sunderland but impressed for Black Cats by scoring 12 goals in half a season. He was recalled by Premier League side AFC Bournemouth earlier this January as the Cherries would like to cash in on him.

He has proven himself to be a prolific goal scorer at this level but he is not in Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe’s plans so has been told he is free to leave them in this transfer window.

He would be a decent coup for Cardiff City. Neil Warnock has been busy in this transfer window identifying potential targets that would strengthen his promotion chasing squad. They are also close to signing Liverpool midfielder Marco Grujic on loan and are also being linked with a move for Middlesbrough’s Adam Forshaw.

It is exciting times for Cardiff City fans with a move for Lewis Grabban in the pipeline and other deals boiling away in the background. They are currently in the Play-Off places and will have an exciting end of the season as they will be chasing their Premier League dream. The signing of Grabban amidst strong competition from their rivals does certainly give them a step closer to that dream.
