Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign Heracles midfielder

Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign Heracles defensive midfielder Joey Pelupessy, according to the The Star.

The new Owls boss Jos Luhukay is looking to make the 24 year-old his first signing. The valuations of the two clubs have not matched as of yet but Sheffield Wednesday are confident and keen to get the deal over the line.

Sheffield Wednesday have had a difficult season and are looking for some reinforcements to bolster their squad and help them climb up the league. Luhukay is expected to be backed financially in this transfer market to help him put his own stamp on his newly inherited team.

Pelupessy could be his first player through the doors at Hillsborough. He was born in Nijverdal in Holland and has spent his whole playing career to date playing in his native country.

He started his career with FC Twente and was a product of their academy. He only made 3 appearances for their first-team as a youngster but gained a significant amount of regular football for their reserve side Jong FC Twente.

He left Twente in the summer of 2014 to sign for Heracles and he has stayed there ever since. He has been a key player for them in the Eredivisie and has played over 100 games.

He is a popular figure at Heracles and their loss will be Sheffield Wednesday’s gain if they can pull the signing off. It will be good for the Owls fans to finally see their side being busy in this transfer market.
