Derby County have signed Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome for an undisclosed fee on a one-and-a-half-year contract.
The 31-year-old has not been a regular for the Canaries, under Daniel Farke this season, having started in just 12 of his 17 appearances and scoring twice in all competitions.
Jerome began his professional career with Cardiff City and after making his debut in August 2004, he went to score 27 goals in 79 appearances for the Bluebirds, earning him a £3million transfer to Birmingham City and he was also named as FourFourTwo magazine’s eighth best player in the Football League at the age of 18.
The forward spent five seasons at St Andrew’s where he made 202 appearances and scored 42 goals for the Blues. During his time there, he lifted the League Cup in 2011 as they famously beat Arsenal 2-1 in the final.
He also gained 10 caps for England’s Under 21s and played 99 times in the Premier League, with his first two goals coming against his new side Derby.
Jerome then moved to Premier League side Stoke City in August 2011 for an undisclosed fee, which was since been reported as £4million..
His time at the Britannia Stadium included seven appearances in the UEFA Europa League, where he scored twice.
After scoring just 12 times in 67 games for the Potters, he was sent on loan to fellow top-flight side Crystal Palace, but he only netted twice in his 29 appearances with the Eagles.
Jerome would never play for the Potters again and was sold to Championship side, Norwich in August 2014 for an undisclosed fee which has since been reported as £1.5million.
His first season in East Anglia showed why Norwich paid the money for him, with his 21 goals in 45 appearances helping to send the Canaries up to the top-flight, the 21st of which was in the 2014-15 Championship Play-Off Final, where Jerome’s first-half finish helped the Canaries to a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough.
However, Norwich’s return to the Premier League was short-lived as they were relegated the following season with Jerome scoring just three times in 35 matches in all competitions during the 2015/16 campaign. Last season, Jerome returned to his goal-scoring ways, netting 16 goals in 41 appearances.
Jerome leaves the Canaries with 42 goals in 138 appearances for the club, equalling the goal tally that he mustered at Birmingham, despite making 64 fewer appearances for Norwich.
Derby are next in action against promotion-chasing rivals Bristol City and their new signing could make his debut for the Rams at Pride Park on Friday evening.
