Leeds United fans comment of Borthwick-Jackson loan recall – “won’t be losing sleep”

A lot was expected of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson when he arrived on loan from Manchester United ahead of the start of this season. That ‘expectation’ has now dissolved after his return to Old Trafford.

He arrived at Elland Road after an unhappy loan spell last season at Wolves, with many fans eager that the highly rated left-back would prove to be a valuable acquisition for the Whites. That wasn’t so.

His time at Elland Road was, probably, more miserable than his time at Molineux with Borthwick-Jackson making just one Championship appearance for the Whites.  He played 82 minutes of the Whites’ second match of the season and only made the bench ONCE between September 9 to January 13;  a 3-1 Leeds United victory over QPR on December 9.

Aside from that, the bulk of his time on the pitch came during United’s cup games, featuring four times in the Carabao Cup and last turning out in the shock 2-1 defeat against Newport nearly two weeks ago.

With his loan spell being much less than a resounding success, the loan deal was cut short with Leeds United announcing the following on their website:

Leeds United can confirm Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s loan spell has been ended early and the left-back has returned to Manchester United.

Borthwick-Jackson joined Leeds back in August and went on to make six appearances for the Whites.

We would like to thank Cameron for his efforts during his time at the club.”

As ever, Leeds United fans were quick to air their views on Twitter about the 20-year-old defender’s time and impact at Elland Road.

The rumour is that Reading, managed by former Old Trafford enforcer Jaap Stam, are said interested in the Manchester United youngster. Leeds United fans have even extended their sympathies to their Championship rivals, as evidenced by the following tweet:
