No transfer kitty available for permanent deals at Charlton Athletic

Charlton Athletic owner Roland Duchatelet will not be making any funds available for permanent transfers during this month’s transfer window according to club director Richard Murray.

The Addicks find themselves embroiled in a battle for a play-off place in Sky Bet League One but two wins from their last two league games have boosted the South East Londoners’ hopes of a top six finish.

Manager Karl Robinson would like to add new faces to his squad during the current transfer window however that  is likely to prove difficult with a potential takeover of the club ongoing. According to News Shopper, Charlton Athletic director Murray has confirmed that any signings will need to be made on a loan basis as there are no funds available for permanent deals.

With a little over two weeks of the transfer window remaining, it is unlikely that The Addicks would be in a position to sign players on a permanent basis even if a takeover was agreed. A conclusion to the saga still seems some way off and it is unlikely that a takeover will be rubbed stamped before the closure of the transfer window.

Charlton Athletic have received a transfer fee of around £400,000 from Sheffield United for the services of winger Ricky Holmes however none of those funds are likely to be made available to manager Robinson.
