Oldham Athletic sign Jack Byrne on a 2 and a half year deal and look set to sign Kean Bryan on loan until the end of the season, according to journalist Mike Keegan.
Jack Byrne spent the 1st part of the 2017/18 campaign on loan at Oldham Athletic and after an impressive spell at the club, he’s signed a 2 and a half year deal at Oldham for an undisclosed fee from fellow League One side Wigan Athletic.
Byrne has been a huge part in Oldham’s revival this season making 23 appearances in all competitions for the club. Jack has managed to scored seven times for the club as well as having five assists for Richie Wellens’s side.
The midfielder told the Club Website “I’m delighted to be back. I pushed for it as well and I’m grateful to the club for the opportunity to come back so hopefully we can have a good second half to the season.”
“I had other options but I felt as if I owed Richie some loyalty as well because him and John Sheridan took me in the summer.”
“I owe the club a bit of loyalty and hopefully some good performances in the second half of the season can pay that back.”
Kean Bryan is also set to resign for Oldham on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season. The youngster made twenty-five appearances for Latics in the 1st part of the 2017/18 campaign.
Wellens told MEN Sport “Kean Bryan is the one I want to keep. He’s an outstanding footballer who does everything I want him to do. He’s the main one I want,”
“Kean obviously won’t get back in at Man City so he should stay here for the rest of the season. He can play at any club in the Championship next season, I’m that convinced.”
