Cardiff City consider move for Peterborough United striker

Cardiff City are considering making a move for Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

The Bluebirds are surprisingly competing at the top of the Sky Bet Championship this season but are looking to sign players during this transfer window to make sure they stay at the end of the table. One position they are looking to strengthen is up front, though many of their moves for players have been unsuccessful so far. And so they have turned their eyes to another striker who has already attracted plenty of attention this month.

Marriott has already had Aston Villa interested in signing him this month and now Cardiff are joining the race to snap him up. He has been in amazing form for the Posh this season, netting 23 times in 38 appearances. Most recently he was crucial in the shock victory over Villa in the Third Round of the FA Cup, scoring twice on their way to a 3-1 victory.

And if Peterborough thought it was going to be tough trying to stave off Aston Villa’s advances, things have been made even more difficult now that Cardiff are in the race to sign him. This could work out in their benefit though. With multiple teams looking to sign Marriott, Peterborough can now force the interested parties into a bidding war. This means they can sell a player they snapped up from Luton Town for a big profit, something that will be sure to please their accountants if not their fans.
