Rangers poised to make move for Cardiff City target

Glasgow giants Rangers are ready to make the first move to sign Cardiff City transfer target Greg Docherty according to the Daily Record.

The 21-year-old Hamilton Academical star has recently been linked with a move to both clubs during the current transfer window as reported by The72 earlier this week and it is Rangers who are set to take the lead in the race to sign the talented midfielder.

It has now been reported that the Ibrox outfit are ready to offer around £600,000 to The Accies for Docherty’s signature. The South Lanarkshire club are understood to have not received any transfer offers for the player to date however the bid from Rangers is expected to be submitted over the weekend.

Docherty is a product of the Hamilton Academical academy system and the midfielder has gone on to make 108 senior appearances for the club in which he has netted eight goals.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock is thought to be a keen admirer of the player and with The Bluebirds boss ready to strengthen his squad this month to aid their push for promotion, the 69-year-old may have to act quickly to beat Rangers in the battle for the youngster.

The South Wales club have lost all of their last four matches in the Sky Bet Championship and their grip on the automatic promotion places has slipped away, at least for the time being.
