Italian source TUTTOmercatoweb (TMW), referencing Sky Italy, revealed news that would have dropped a few jaws in LS postcodes – Leeds United having interest in Juve starlet Moise Kean.
TMW say that there are “British sirens” sounding for the youngster who is currently on loan at Hellas Verona from Juventus, who are known as La Vecchia Signora in Italian football. This ‘interest’ from Leeds United drew the usual keen responses from Leeds United fans on Twitter.
These fans are right to get excited if there’s substance to the interest said expressed in the young Italian striker. He’s a starlet of huge potential and definitely one who’d easily fit into the category of ‘promising’ youngster.
Promise of a prolific nature
The 17-year-old is currently on loan at Hellas Verona and has been well-and-truly bloodied, featuring in 15 Serie A games and scoring two goals – one of these against giants AC Milan in a 3-0 victory.
Goals are what Kean knows, regularly scoring for Juventus’ youth and Under-17/19 squads. Before making the step up to senior football, he was on fire in Juve’s Under-17 set-up. At this level he was quite prolific, scoring 29 goals in just 36 appearances – including 19 in the 2015/16 season.
Whilst TMW urge caution saying that “it seems that this track is not destined to materialise,” that is not the case with respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Leeds United’s ‘interest’ in Moise Kean takes new twist
With TMW hinting at a ‘no deal’ and other mumblings being of a loan deal, de Marzio introduces a slightly different, alternative take on matters. He is a Sky Sport Italy reporter, so will have sources of his own in Italy – lending his views a sense of credence.
Di Marzio says that “Leeds have been thinking about Juventus’ Moise Kean for their attack,” but does go on to say that this thought in unlikely to bear any fruition. Yet. The interesting thing that he does say, that adds a slightly different take to this developing story comes right at the end of his short piece.
Rather than go down the ‘loan’ pathway of thinking, Di Marzio says that there’s a little more depth to Leeds’ interest and a little further down the line. He hints that a permanent deal could be on the cards for the free-scoring youngster saying that “Leeds is ready to raise the player’s wages in June.”
According to website Transfermarkt, Kean’s contract expires at the end of June this year – maybe that’s why the Whites have started to sniff around a little early.
