Derby County manager Gary Rowett and goalkeeper Scott Carson have won the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards for December respectively.
The Rams picked up 16 out of a possible 18 points in their six matches during the final month of 2017, including victories over promotion-chasing rivals Aston VIlla and local rivals Burton Albion.
Carson kept clean sheets in five of their six matches during the month, with Joe Garner’s goal for Ipswich Town on the 30th of December being the only goal to be conceded by the Derby stopper in December.
Their impressive run throughout December moved them up to second place in the Sky Bet Championship table and they are currently two points ahead of third placed side Cardiff City.
After his recent form as Derby manager linked him with the current vacancy at Stoke City, Rowett was rewarded a new contract earlier this week, keeping him at the club until 2021.
The award for Rowett is his second of the season, after being named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month back in October.
Former England international Carson has kept 12 clean sheets in the league this season, with only Wolverhampton Wanderers’ John Ruddy ahead of him on 14.
He made his 100th appearance for the Rams in October and celebrated it with a 2-0 victory and a clean sheet at Pride Park against arch rivals Nottingham Forest.
Derby’s next game is tomorrow against Rowett’s former side Birmingham City, knowing that a win could put them as many as five points clear of the play-off places.
