Luhukay, Sheffield Wednesday manager says this is a fresh start for everyone

Sheffield Wednesday manager says this is a fresh start for everyone

Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay has told the Sheffield Star that everyone in the squad has got a fresh chance to impress him.

A whole new era starts on Friday as Luhukay takes control of his first game as manager of Sheffield Wednesday. In this match, which couldn’t be more difficult as it is against Steel City rivals Sheffield United, fans will be hoping for a turnaround after weeks of poor form which culminated in the departure of Carlos Carvalhal and most embarrassingly, a 3-0 loss at home to Burton Albion.

Under Carvalhal’s reign, many players such as Almen Abdi and Marco Matias ended up being frozen out and struggled to break back into the first team. And in words that will be music to their ears, Luhukay has said his arrival at the club means a fresh start for everyone and that every player contracted to them has now got a chance to show why they should be playing in the first team.

He said: “What has happened in the past, you cannot change. We can change what now happens for the players.”

“There are a lot out injured but that means the other players and the juniors can take a chance for themselves.”

“That is the situation. They must have that motivation.”

When asked about owner Dejphon Chansiri, he said: “He has a lot of passion,”

“It is his dream to go to the Premier League. I like his passion and I hope I can give him some success and we can do it together.”
