Five reasons Leeds United are good enough for a promotion push

The midfield five

Leeds put out a five in midfield with two players the midfield locks in front of the defensive line, and three in a more advanced role behind a lone striker. In the holding positions the Whites have the options of multiple configurations with regulars such as Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane able to be deputised with the likes of Mateusz Klich and even Conor Shaughnessy able to step in.

Further up the field and Leeds United are equally packed and equally strong. Players such as Kemar Roofe, Gianni Alioski and Samu Saiz are sparkling as first-choice forward midfielders – 17 goals and 10 assists between them. Off the bench you have the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Pawel Cibicki and the sadly injured Stuart Dallas ready to step in – another three players with six goals and five assists between them.

In season’s gone, the Whites had neither this depth of talent nor this productivity from the engine room of the team. They have now and it’s a glorious thing.
