Five reasons Leeds United are good enough for a promotion push

We’ve got Samu Saiz (OK maybe at the end of February)

The rumour that Leeds were bringing in some Spanish second division attacking midfielder called Samu Saiz led to a little consternation amongst certain Leeds United fans. Many were more like “Sam Who”, rushing to their computers to type his name into their preferred search engine.

That doubt has now been dispersed with some ease – his first game for the Whites being in the Carabao Cup against Port Vale – Saiz smashing a début hat-trick for the Whites. Since then he’s gone on to sparkle and is the creative spark behind much of what is good about Leeds United. He’s become that missing link that the Whites needed, that skillful playmaker behind the lone striker who can get the side moving forwards.

The only blemish, and it’s a big one is his six-game suspension for spitting at Newport County’s Robbie Willmott in the FA Cup Third Round loss last weekend. It is a six-game stretch that will keep the Spaniard out until February 24 and the visit of Brentford to Elland Road.
