PREVIEW: Oldham Athletic vs Rotherham

Struggling Oldham Athletic are set to host former fan favourite Paul Warne as his Rotherham side look to pick up 3 points to get into the play offs.

Richie Wellens’s Oldham enter the clash in poor form as they haven’t won in 6 league matches and lay 20th in League One a point above the drop zone. Oldham have had a busy start to the transfer window adding Patrick McEleney, Zeus de la Paz, Kundai Benyu and ex Rotherham Ben Pringle. But Latics have lost Eoin Doyle, Keen Bryan and Jack Byrne as well as assistant manager Paul Jewell.

Rotherham enter the game in fine form picking up eleven points from a possible fifthteen available and sit 8th a place outside the play offs. Rotherham are in a similar situation to Oldham as they lost club top scorer Kieffier Moore who joint Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. But In-form striker David Ball is confident he can fill the Rotherham United void left by the departure of Kieffer.

According to The StarRotherham United striker Jonson Clarke-Harris has emerged as a January-transfer-window target for old club Oldham Athletic. Wellens is in desperate need of new recruits after losing a number of players, including top scorer Eoin Doyle, to loan recalls and are ready to turn to their former player.

Former Rotherham favourite Ben Pringle joint Oldham this week arriving on a loan till the end of the season from Preston and is set to make his debut against the Millers. He helped Rotherham rise from League Two to the Championship in a four-year spell where he made 147 appearances for the Millers, scoring 19 goals.

Rotherham United boss Paul Warne is amongst this month’s nominees for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month Award. Also, Rotherham United forward David Ball has been nominated for the December PFA Bristol Street Motors League One Player of the Month Award. The Millers striker enjoyed a fruitful spell in front of goal during the final month of 2017, with a brace against Blackpool marking the first of his five goal return for December.
