Wolves listed as second favourites to sign former striker

Sky Bet Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers have been listed as the second favourites to sign former striker Benik Afobe should he be sold by AFC Bournemouth during the current transfer window.

The 24-year-old Leyton born goal machine bagged 23 goals in just 48 outings for Wolves in his previous spell at the club and has recently been linked with a return to Molineux as reported by The72 last month.

According to the latest odds from English Football League sponsors Sky Bet, Wolves are the 7/1 second favourites to sign Afobe this month behind Crystal Palace who have long been linked with a move for the DR Congo international.

Afobe has netted just one goal in 20 appearances for AFC Bournemouth so far this season but should the English Premier League club opt to sell the striker, it is believed that Wolves would have to offer at least £15 million for his services.

Wolves signed Afobe three years ago for just £2 million after the player failed to make the grade with Arsenal despite once being tracked by Spanish giants Barcelona. An electric 12-month period at Molineux saw the forward’s price tag soar and Afobe left Wolves just a year after signing for the club for a transfer fee of around £10 million.

The player has struggled to make the step up to the top flight with current club AFC Bournemouth and Afobe may benefit from a change in scenery with the striker currently suffering from a goal drought.
