Brighton & Hove Albion are set to make their move for a new striker in the January transfer window, with Aston Villa starlet Keinan Davis one of their intended targets. The Sun reports that a £3million offer is being lined up by the Seagulls, who have adapted well to life in the Premier League following promotion out of the Sky Bet Championship.
Villa themselves hope to return to the top flight next season and it remains to be seen if they’d be willing to cash in on Davis. Manager Steve Bruce is certainly a fan, but so is Chris Hughton, especially now that the young forward has earned a greater reputation following his exploits with Aston Villa and also the England Under-20 side.
19-year-old Davis has made 22 appearances overall for the club this season, netting three goals in all competitions. A serious injury to Jonathan Kodjia has certainly increased his game time over the last few months, doing an admiral job leading the line for someone so young and inexperienced in the senior game. AFC Bournemouth are another club believed to be monitoring his progress, with the striker perfectly fitting the DNA for the type of player Cherries boss Eddie Howe loves to work with.
It was Bruce who handed the player his chance in the Aston Villa first team when appearing in the FA Cup defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last season. Since then, he has gradually been introduced more and more onto the field of play, and has now become a player he won’t want to lose, plus he is becoming a favourite with the supporters at Villa Park as well.
