Derby County and Sunderland are interested in signing Brentford’s Ryan Woods according to a report from the Daily Star via West London Sport.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been playing great for Brentford ever since he signed from Shrewsbury Town back in 2015, even recently making his 100th appearance for the club. But as he continues to impress in the centre of midfield for the Bees, more and more teams are noticing how good he is and are plotting to try and prise him away from West London.
The teams that are hoping to sign him during the January transfer window are Derby and Sunderland. Brentford will be used to the interest from the latter as there were reports that the Black Cats were hoping to sign Woods back in the summer but the interest from Wearside is still there despite the change in management. But now they are joined by Derby in being interested in Woods as they also look to strengthen their squad ahead of the rest of the season.
Sunderland and Derby both have very different aims for the second half of the season. This season has been a disaster so far for Sunderland and they are in a fight to make sure they don’t get relegated for a second season in a row and will hope the signings they make this month will help them get out of the bottom three. Derby on the other hand are fighting for promotion and hope that Woods will be the man who fires them into the Premier League.
