Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves planning ‘dream’ move for Cambridge United striker

Cambridge United star Jevani Brown is on the cusp of a dream move to the Sky Bet Championship, according to reports.

It is believed that Middlesbrough, Derby County, Wolves, Barnsley and both of the Sheffield clubs are looking to poach Brown from the U’s.

Brown has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season scoring on four occasions for Shaun Derry’s men, but a string of impressive performances have seen the youngster catch the eye.

The 23-year-old was a trainee with Sky Bet League One side Peterborough United before dropping in to non league.

Eight clubs in three years in the depths of non league followed for Brown with his most prolific spell coming with St Neots Town in the Southern Football League Premier Division.

The Jamaican U17 international bagged 19 goals in 19 games for The Saints as they finished 19th. Brown’s goals were a crucial factor to their safety as they managed to stay clear of the bottom four by a solitary point.

This scintillating form would see him catch the eye of Shaun Derry, who snapped him up for United on a two-year deal back in August.

Brown was delighted to make the step into the Football League after signing for Cambridge, he said this on his move to the Abbey Stadium:

“Now that the deal is sorted my mind set has changed and I want to work just as hard at getting a place in the team.

“Having met all my team mates during the trial, I know how competitive it will be to earn a place in the squad, but I’m looking forward to it.

“This Club is fantastic at giving young men opportunities in the game and personally Cambridge United have provided me with a chance to test myself in the Football League and I can’t wait to get started.”

But now it appears that Brown could be set for pastures new as he prepares to make a step up in the footballing pyramid.
