Daniels, Luke Daniels ready to become Brentford number one

Luke Daniels ready to become Brentford number one

Brentford’s Luke Daniels has told Get West London that he is ready to become the club’s number one at any time.

Daniels signed for the Bees from Scunthorpe United in the summer and it was always expected that he would be the back-up to Dan Bentley. And that has been the case with Daniels only making four appearances for Brentford with all of them being in the cup, including their shock 1-0 defeat to Notts County in the FA Cup this weekend.

Despite that disappointment for both Daniels and the rest of the Brentford team, he has said that he is ready anytime to step up and become the Brentford number one. He acknowledges that it is likely that Bentley will remain the regular shot stopper for the rest of the season but he is keen to remind his head coach Dean Smith that he will always be ready and raring to go should he be needed.

He said: “It’s one of them, when you lose a game you always over analyse things and I’ll no doubt do that again but it’s good to be back out playing and hopefully it’s put in the manager’s mind that I am available and ready to go.”

“I always feel like I’ve put myself in a position where, if the manager decides he will play me, I’m always there and available so it’s just up to me.”

“I work hard in training every week and make sure that I’m ready if called upon.”

Daniels will most likely return to the bench for Brentford’s match against Bolton Wanderers next week.
