Preston North End’s Ben Pearson is being eyed by Lancashire rivals Burnley according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been one of the Lilywhites best payers this season and is one of the main reasons that the club are currently in 9th spot in the Sky Bet Championship, just a few points off the play-off places. But as you would expect with a player doing this well for a team that doesn’t have all the resources in the world, his form has been noted and a team are planning on making a move to sign him.
And just to rub salt into the wounds, it is one of Preston’s biggest rivals who are looking to sign Pearson during this transfer window. Burnley have been very impressed with Pearson’s form for their rivals and could firm up their interest in the next few weeks. One thing the club really like about him is that he came through the Manchester United academy. The Clarets have signed a few players who have come through their youth system, including Michael Keane who they most recently sold for a massive profit after years of great performances for them.
It would be tough for Preston to see one of their best players leave in the best of times but to see one head to a rival that is currently doing very well in the Premier League might be too much to take. But if Burnley are ready to spend plenty of money on the midfielder, it might be a circumstance that fans have to be ready for.
