Sheffield United set to land Wolves midfielder for £750K

Sheffield United are close to completing a deal to sign Wolves’ Lee Evans for £750K according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently not at Wolves and is instead on loan at Wigan Athletic as he was unlikely to break into the Black Country side’s first team following the many big name signings they made in the summer. He quickly became a star for the Latics and has been a key player for the club as they push for promotion from Sky Bet League One.

But it became apparent that Evans would not be staying at Wigan for much longer when he was not included in today’s FA Cup fixture against Bournemouth, one where they could have done with him after the Cherries came from two behind to force a 2-2 draw and a replay. And it appears that he will get a chance to play in the Sky Bet Championship again as he will soon complete a move to Sheffield United.

Their head coach Chris Wilder said before the transfer window opened that he would be busy strengthening the squad and that’s exactly what he will be doing when the club wraps up the deal said to be worth £750K for Evans. While there were a number of other teams said to be interested in signing Evans following his good run of form for Wigan, it was the Blades who managed to win the race and will be happy to see him join their squad as they push for promotion.
