A look back at the career of Sheffield Wednesday’s new manager Jos Lukuhay

Sheffield Wednesday have appointed Jos Luhukay as their new manager. Here is a look back at his career-

During his playing days, Luhukay played as a midfielder. He started his career with his hometown club, VVV Venlo, and went onto play for Dutch clubs SVV Shiedam and RKC Waalwijk before moving to German sides KFC Uerdingen 05 and SV Straelen. He started his managerial career in 1998 with SV Straelen, just one month after retiring as a player there. He spent two years with them as their manager before moving to Uerdingen in 2000. He was spotted by Bundesliga side Koln in 2002 and he became their assistant manager. He spent four seasons working at Koln and even had a stint as their caretaker manager in 2003.

He got his first big job as a manager in 2005 when he appointed at second division side SV Paderborn. However, things did not work out for Luhukay there and he ended up resigning in August 2006 and became the assistant manager of Borrusia Monchengladbach. He later became the first-team manager of Gladbach but again only lasted one season. He went onto have longer spells with Augsburg and Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga and started to make a name for himself in Germany. He proved many people wrong and spent three years at both clubs.

His spells with Augsburg and Hertha Berlin were both impressive stints and he got a move to Stuttgart in May 2016 but he left after just five games and he won three of them and that was the last job he had.
