Sheffield United have bid rejected for Glasgow Rangers star

Rangers have turned down a bid from Championship side Sheffield United for their midfielder Josh Windass, according to Football Insider.

The 23 year-old has been the subject of interest from various English clubs so far this January including Preston North End and Wigan Athletic, who have both seen moves turned down by the Scottish Premier League giants.

Sheffield United’s bid for Windass was believed to be in the region of £500,000. However, Rangers are said to value him much higher then that. He could leave Graeme Murty’s side this transfer window if the price is right.

Windass joined the Scottish side in the summer of 2016 for a fee of around £60,000 from League Two side Accrington Stanley. He found it tough getting into their first-team last season but has nailed down a place this campaign and has impressed for Rangers.

He played in the Huddersfield Town academy as a youngster but was released so he played for Harrogate Railway before being snapped up by Accrington Stanley. He scored 21 goals in 75 games for the Lancashire club.

Sheffield United could be his next destination if the Blades are willing to pay enough for him. Chris Wilder is looking to bolster his squad this January and looks to have also signed Southend United midfielder Ryan Leonard, but a move for Windass may not be as straight forward.

There is no doubt that there will be more Josh Windass rumours to come in this transfer window. I wouldn’t rule out a move to Hull City either, where his dad Dean is a club legend and now an ambassador.
