Scunthorpe United have signed Cameron McGeehan on loan from Barnsley for the rest of the season as confirmed by the club website.
The 22-year-old midfielder signed for Barnsley in the summer from Luton Town but has struggled to break into their first team, only making ten appearances since signing for the Tykes. With the player still being rather young, there is plenty of chance to break into the first team and they don’t want to cut their losses out just yet. And so they have now loaned him out.
McGeehan has only dropped one league after he signed for Scunthorpe on loan until the end of the season. The Iron have been doing very well this season and are currently 4th in Sky Bet League One but they will need a bit more if they want to get promoted automatically rather than having to go through the lottery of the play-offs once again. And with the signing of a highly rated midfielder, Scunthorpe will hope they have all they need to help them in the fight for promotion.
McGeehan started his career with Fulham before quickly moving to Chelsea. However when he was 16-years-old, he would head to Norwich City and their renowned academy He would show his talent early on by leading their youth side to success in the FA Youth Cup with his performances leading pundits to label him as a future star. McGeehan would soon leave Norwich due to a lack of firs team action and would sign for Luton Town. After impressing there, he would sign for Barnsley in the summer.
