Milton Keynes Dons have signed Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old was recalled by the Premier League champions on Wednesday, after Ugbo had spent the first half of this season with Championship side Barnsley.
However, Ugbo struggled during his time with the Yorkshire club. He started in nine of his 18 appearances under Paul Heckingbottom, but only managed to find the back of the net once.
Last season, the teenager was the top goalscorer for Chelsea’s development side, notching 23 times in 35 matches for the Under 18s and 23s combined.
Ugbo has represented England at Under 17 and 20 levels, with a combined total of seven goals in 20 caps.
After being announced as the Dons’ new number 27, Ugbo told the club’s website how well he has settled in with Robbie Neilson’s side.
He said: “I’m delighted to join such a great club and I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve settled in well today – the players made me feel comfortable and at home.
“The players MK Dons have helped develop over the years like Dele Alli and Benik Afobe inspired me to come here.
“Hopefully I can do my best to help the team climb up the table.”
MK Dons are currently in 19th place in the League One table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Neilson’s side are next in action on Saturday, where they will face a trip to Championship side Queens Park Rangers in the Third Round of the FA Cup, where Ugbo could make his debut for his new club.
