Scunthorpe United have offered a new deal to Hakeeb Adelakun to fend off interest in him, according to the Hull Daily Mail.
The winger has been attracting attention from Championship trio Hull City, Barnsley and Norwich City. He has also apparently been linked with Burnley, Crystal Palace and Rangers.
Hakeeb Adelakun is a man in demand and League One side Scunthorpe United will be praying that they can tie him down on a new deal.
His contract with the Irons expires in the summer meaning that he will leave on a free transfer at the expiry of his current deal. Therefore, if he turns down their new contract offer they may be forced to sell him to ensure they receive a transfer fee for him.
The 21 year-old has been one of Scunthorpe’s key players this season. His from has helped Graham Alexander’s men get to fourth in the league table and they are now firmly in the promotion race.
Hull City are one of the team’s who are interested in a January move for him. Their manager, Nigel Adkins, has not ruled out a move for him. Adkins used to be the manager of Scunthorpe and although Adelakun did not play for them when he was there, Adkins has said that he has kept a keen eye on his progress.
Hull will face competition from other clubs like Norwich City and Barnsley to sign him. If Adelakun does sign a new deal with Scunthorpe then the likelihood is that all three clubs would rule out a deal.
