Coventry land new winger from Brighton

Coventry City have announced the loan signing of Brighton and Hove Albion winger Jordan Maguire-Drew until the end of the season.

The Crawley Town academy product had previously been on loan at fellow promotion chasers Lincoln City for the first half of the season, but has since returned to the Seagulls.

Maguire-Drew made 11 appearances for the Imps in SkyBet League Two, scoring on two occasions.

However, the Brighton winger missed a huge part of the season having picked up an injury towards the end of October.

Maguire-Drew was named Checkatrade player of the round, after his two goals enabled Lincoln City to defeat Premier League 2 champions Everton.

The winger joins Coventry, who moved into the automatic promotion places this weekend courtesy of his old side Lincoln’s defeat to league leaders Luton. Coventry beat Chesterfield 1-0 in order to clamber above the Imps.

Speaking to the club website, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins was delighted to have finally got his man having missed out on him in the summer:

“We targeted Jordan during the summer and unfortunately missed out, so we are very pleased to be able to bring him in now.

“He has great technical ability and quality, and is a scorer of goals, so we are delighted to get him through the door and for him to start with us.

“Having got into the top three of the league on Monday, Jordan will supplement our squad very well as we look to establish our position.”
