Aston Villa have made a superb start to 2018 by thrashing Sky Bet Championship promotion rivals Bristol City 5-0 at Villa Park.
Scott Hogan, Robert Snodgrass (two), Birkir Bjarnason and Conor Hourihane got the goals as Steve Bruce’s men ran riot against a Bristol City side which have pushed themselves into the automatic promotion race in recent weeks.
The victory for Villa is their biggest of the season so far and after the match, fans took to Twitter to give their views on what was a stunning performance from the men in claret and blue.
Class performance today from Villa. @JackGrealish1 MOTM, we need to keep playing like this let the shackles off and attack teams. Attack is the best form of defence and we have the players to attack teams. #AVFC #utv @AVFCOfficial

Amazing what happens when Bruce starts building the attack around the play of Grealish and Hourihane 🔥🔥#AVFC

Best @AVFCOfficial team performance in years … No understatement to a man they all stood up and performed. Jedi allowed Hourihane to express himself and get forward. Massive win and most importantly 3 points #AVFC #utv

Just back, what a fantastic evening that was. Thought we started off a bit sluggishly but Hogan’s goal changed everything. Wonderful attacking performance & if we tried to play that way every week, no complaints. Jack Grealish was fabulous & well done Bruce 👊🏻 #avfc

Great result tonight. Even better to score back to back wins after a dodgy patch of games. Hopefully this sets another run of wins & performances to end the season #AVFC

Quite easily the best performance under Bruce so far. Some huge performances today, let’s hope we can kick on from here now #avfc

Time we started acting like the big club that we are in this division and continue to steamroll teams, or at least set out to try. More of this please, much more of this 👊🏻👍🏻 #avfc #UTV @Dr_TonyXia 🙌🏻
