PREVIEW: Accrington host rampant Shrimps

Accrington Stanley will be looking to tighten their grips on the play-offs when they face Morecambe tomorrow.

Stanley are currently sat in 7th position but have a game in hand on most teams around them. John Coleman’s men are just three points away from the automatic promotion places.

Their visitors are starting to pull away from the relegation zone in 21st place. The gap between themselves and 23rd places Barnet was stretched to five points on Saturday.

Accrington come into the game having turned around their dreadful recent form. A 3-0 demolition job of mid-table Grimsby saw them soar into the play off spots.

Goals from front men Billy Kee, Sean McConville and former Mariners loanee Cayden Jackson ensured that Stanley would make the trip home from Lincolnshire a happy one. Albeit it was at their third time of asking this month.

Visitors Morecambe also come into the fixture having put some dreadful mid-season form to bed. They may have an advantage of playing on the Friday night under the lights as they entertained relegation threatened Yeovil Town.

Despite trailing 2-0 at half time to goals from Jake Gray, who scored within a minute, and Otis Kahn, Jim Bentley’s side were able to walk away with the points.

The Shrimps produced the late show with four goals in the last 20 minutes to gather the points. A brace from Callum Lang was sandwiched between a Vadaine Oliver header and a 94th minute winner from the experienced Kevin Ellison.

These two sides met back in September with Accrington collecting all three points. Goals from Billy Kee and Jordan Clark were enough to make Kevin Ellison’s 95th minute strike nothing but a consolation.
