Leeds United were aiming to make it five wins on the bounce in the second-tier of football for the first time since King Billy was manager.
They failed. Pretty miserably too.
No fan really expects their side to win EVERY game, that’s way too realistic. What is realistic is that Birmingham could’ve taken a player off per minute, starting at 90 minutes, and ending with six outfield players – Leeds still would have struggled to break them down.
In reality it was just one of those hiccup games, but it was one that left that bitter taste of pre-sick burning in the back of your throat. The following pretty much sums up the game.

The loss against Birmingham, who have only now scored 13 goals ALL SEASON looks ugly but, as head coach Thomas Christiansen pointed out, Leeds United have actually had more than a decent December. In fact, it has been so decent that it has dragged them back in to the play-off picture.
It was a bad display, bones cannot be made about it – it was as turgid as one could expect. A team low on luck and lower on goals just looking to get three points, one point even. Still, despite what many have seen as a strange choice in midfield with Conor Shaughnessy starting for the injured Ronaldo Vieira, Christiansen defended his team selection.
Monday’s game, the first of 2018 is just two days away. A massive improvement is needed in those two day, and I mean massive. Nottingham Forest bring more threat in two players Keiran Dowell (eight goals) and Daryl Murphy (seven goals) that Birmingham started with on the pitch on Saturday.
There will be no hiding places, the team selection’d better be bob on because there will be 35,000 baying Leeds fans expecting a result. Last season a Souleymane Doukara thunderblast ensured a 2-0 win for the Whites. New season, new strike-force but same result wanted – a win at all costs.
